Application
Metallurgy
In the blast furnace ironmaking process, the taphole clay (GDT-8, GDT-11) exhibits excellent bonding and sintering properties, enabling it to rapidly form a stable “clay pack” that protects the hearth. It offers superior resistance to erosion and scouring, with tapping times consistently maintained at 150–180 minutes, thereby effectively reducing labor intensity and material consumption.
In the steelmaking and continuous casting sectors, electrofused alumina–magnesia spinel and electrofused white corundum serve as key raw materials for ladle refractories, offering high bulk density and excellent resistance to spalling, thereby significantly extending ladle life. Mold‑sealing coatings and long nozzle sealing cups effectively prevent molten steel leakage and secondary oxidation, ensuring production safety and maintaining the purity of the molten steel.
Ceramics
Electrofused alumina–magnesia spinel boasts a high bulk density and excellent thermal shock resistance, making it an ideal raw material for manufacturing ceramic kiln furniture such as pusher plates and saggers for high‑temperature kilns, thereby effectively extending the service life of these refractory components. Electrofused mullite exhibits well‑developed needle‑like crystals, strong thermal shock resistance, and superior wear resistance, and is widely used in the production of ceramic kiln furniture—including pusher plates, saggers, and shelf boards—for high‑temperature applications. Electrofused white corundum and reactive α‑Al₂O₃ fine powders are characterized by high purity and excellent flowability, serving as core raw materials for producing precision ceramics such as high‑purity, high‑alumina series products, spark plugs, electronic and electrical components, and high‑frequency insulating porcelain.
Chemical industry
Electrofused white corundum boasts high purity and excellent chemical stability, with outstanding resistance to both acids and alkalis, making it an ideal raw material for refractory linings in the chemical industry and for lining corrosion‑resistant equipment. Electrofused mullite exhibits superior thermal shock resistance and good wear resistance, and can be used as kiln furniture—such as pusher plates and saggers—in high‑temperature chemical kilns, as well as a refractory masonry material in corrosion‑resistant kilns like those employed in alkali‑free glass tank furnaces. Active α‑Al₂O₃ fine powder and calcium aluminate cement are key binding components for formulating high‑performance amorphous refractory castables for chemical applications, ensuring the structural integrity and durability of linings under severe high‑temperature corrosive conditions.
